The ATLAS hotel has been a visual fixture in Cape May ever since I can remember. The retro cheesy plastic block ATLAS sign (you're only seeing the bottom "S" in this shot) has held it's ground in Cape May — a town resurgent with preserving gingerbread architecture and centuries old woodwork. Interestingly, the longer this sign and establishment holds onto its kitschy chic, the more that brand secures its place and success for the future.
So as I was making the early coffee rounds, it struck me how cool the neon sign looked against the backdrop of the rising sun. I love the way the
Closed for the Season letters are barely hanging on and almost unreadable.
