Ben & Bishop, final shot
This is the final shot from the Ben & Bishop series (Ben & Bishop 1 , and Ben & Bishop 2), these links will take you to the photos archived on Flickr.
I hadn't paid much attention to this image before, but in reviewing (read: cleaning up) my archives last night the photo caught my attention.
In particular, I like the feeling of secure distance communicated between Ben and Bishop. That's quite a big walking gap considering the temperature was about 7 degrees, and the winds were gusting 40-50 mph — you'd think instinct would keep the gap tight. But each feels free in their own space, to take what they need from the cold, windy and quite beautiful sunset walk together.
Back Bay Sunset Sillouette
Last night Cape May was served up some spectacular sunsets. Just stunning rays and cloud formations blasted across town in all its pastel pink and orange glory.
This view is in the back bay area which has quite a bit of development underway. The crane silhouette hints at that ongoing construction.
A little tough to see, but the pylon silhouette over to the left is an artificial owl. Those fake owls are dotted throughout the waterways and help keep away the seagulls that love to poop on everything. Apparently, after a short while the seagulls learn that the owls don't move and they aren't scared away anymore.
Condo sunset, Canyon Club
Here's one strip of Canyon Club condos down on the harbor, just over the other side of the Cape May bridge.
Those Palm trees are metalic sculptures. And really quite beautiful. They look oversized in this shot because of the forced perspective.
Metallic fronds, closer up
Just over the other side of the Cape May bridge and harbor...
...this is the same metallic palm tree sculpture from the Canyon Club sunset I shot yesterday. The perspective: looking almost straight up from the ground.
I really like how the saw-edged silhouette of the palm fronds lay sharp and flat against the bluish sky and puff white clouds. But my favorite part is the rust orange accents from the setting sun behind me.
Big blue kite, Congress Hall Beach
A cold lonely day on the beach but still, people were out and about. I walked down to look at the ice floes that dotted the coastline and came upon this family (to the right) and a lone man wearing a puffy down parka flying a huge blue kite.
I caught this shot right as the kite sailed in front on the sun trying to poke through the overcast clouds.
