Skimming Gold
Shot taken down by the beautiful, off-the-beaten-path of Higbees Beach. It's cool the way the the birds race by so fast about 2 inches above the ocean surface. I think they're on their early evening scout for surface bugs.

Cape May Photographic Perspectives: Beacr. eatre
An On-going Photographic Series, Cape May NJ
A beautiful Cape May night out in front of the famous Beach Theatre. This photograph captures three distinct layers of light — the top blueish light reveals the approaching night, the Theatre sign neon, and the fluorescent light below all conspire to create a somewhat surreal photographic image that feels almost stage.capemayX Photography, Best of Summer 2007

Lulu's Cape May Gallery Crab Cake Fund Raiser Night Out
What a great night out
Many thanks to all the great people that attended the Lulu's Cafe Gallery event. We got a chance to present some of our favorite capemaX photography, we raised money for the animal shelter that burned down, and Lulu's Cafe featured the best new crab cakes in South Jersey (now serving at night). And because it's worth repeating, the new Lulu's crabcakes are the best in South Jersey, if not some of the best on the whole eastern seaboard. Just as delicious as you would imagine how a perfect crab cake should taste, and we plan a follow-up story to get the details on what makes them so tasty good.Canvas Prints
A beautiful night at Lulu's Cafe enjoying new Cape May perspectives Wow, there was such a great reaction to our capemayX photography. Personally, I really appreciate that and I thank anyone and everyone who was kind enough to fire a compliment my way. It motivates me to get out there and capture more great shots that tell the ongoing stories of Cape May in unique, creative new ways. We were thrilled also, that people loved the canvas prints. They are of the highest quality and make for the perfect way to hang up our unique photographic views of Cape May in your home or office.
I love the Cape May Type ®
Follow our new photo series
We're happy to start a new capemayX photo series: I Love the Cape May Type ® that celebrates the interesting and wide ranging typography that communicates the signs of the times throughout Cape May.We've happily discovered that when you're mind is geared up to shoot photographs, it notices things that may have gone unnoticed for years, even though you pass them all the time in the course of a day. Case in point is this funky old wall sign on the outskirts of town. This typography harkens back to an older time. Certainly the building is old and beat up, and might even be closed down. But the unique the colors and vibrant typography contrasting against the blue sky are so interesting and alive. We plan a return visit to capture the same image at sunrise (and sunset too maybe), to see how magic light affects the colors and feel. Stay tuned for more of the "I love the Cape May Type®" series. And if you have your own ideas or images to contribute, send us an email. We'd love to hear and see them. :O)

Monika's Flag
The Story
A car pulls up to watch another beautiful Cove Beach sunset, and their tiny little antenna flag starts flapping a million miles an hour with the sun directly behind it. I thought it looked so cool and started snapping away to see what I could see. Check out the frayed cloth threads releasing from the flag stripes, and all the parts of the flag are visible — the stars, stripes, the colors.I didn't know the people in the car and I think they thought it quite strange that I was taking photos practically leaning over their hood. They were very nice and I learned the girl's name was Monika — spelled with a K, I imagine, picking up on the Swedish accent.
Cloud Wave Photo Prints Available for Limited Time!
We received some great emails on the current banner photo which was taken last night as the storm front came barreling through town. We much appreciate the positive response — so much so that we're making the Cloud Wave photo available as a fine art print for a limited time. These prints are gorgeous. You can order them naked, that's how capemayX likes it — just the print and no frame. Or you can order each fine art print as a beautifully framed and matted, or even as a funky cool canvas wrap. All purchases come with a money back 100% satisfaction guarantee from our online print partners (hooray!). Just click the image here to go right to the order page. And thanks again for the great feedback.
Horse dreams
This is on the property of the Cape May Carriage Company, a fantastic local business that features old fashioned horse and carriage tours through historic Cape May. I did a short video interview with Beverly, the owner, where she introduces some of her star carriage pullers by name.
In this shot, I love how the clouds separated and the top one caught the setting sun pinkish hues, while the lower cloud stayed blueish if not a bit ominous.
Hotel Macomber
The Hotel Macomber, a huge, beautiful turn of the century historic landmark, was the last historic landmark erected in Cape May. It was also, according to the Hotel's website, the largest frame structure for its time east of the Mississippi.
This shot shows the back of the hotel which I found quite interesting with the fast puffy clouds and deep blue sky lit up from the setting sun to my back.
Sunset incline
This funky little bridge takes you into Wildwood crest. It looks like the weather is starting to lead us back to what we like.
Cruisin' the wetlands
Ocean Drive is a beautiful stretch that connects Cape May to the Wildwoods beach resort. Along the way, the road cuts through a spectacular area of protected wetlands that are vital enviromental estuaries and stop-off points for many bird migration routes.
I pulled off to the shoulder of this small highway to take some shots and this super cool car went flying by. I turned quickly, snapped and was lucky to capture what you see here — a car that to my eye, looks to be auto perfection.
