The Story
I ran this capemayX photograph as a banner image a few days ago. Here's the story behind the image.
During the tourist season, old fashioned horse and carriage tours clip clop up Hughes Street, Cape May's oldest residential street. It's also where our house is located. It's a wonderful scene as guides talk about the history and heritage of America's first and oldest shore resort, Cape May. Today (two days ago) I stepped out to grab a photo as one of the horse and carriages clickitty clacked right by me.
What I love about this shot ... is seeing the horsey details up close. In particular, the white and red striped harness contrasting against the white coat, the little hair braid which I understand the horse does himself, and the cool eye guards (not sure what they're called). From a design standpoint, I love the angular lined beauty of all the elements.
I think watching the amazing Preakness run yesterday had me geared up for a little horsing around. :O)
I originally reported that the horse's name is Magic, but upon asking another carriage driver, I think his name is actually Sterling. Even still, the title stands.
