Metallic fronds, closer up

Just over the other side of the Cape May bridge and harbor...

...this is the same metallic palm tree sculpture from the Canyon Club sunset I shot yesterday. The perspective: looking almost straight up from the ground.

I really like how the saw-edged silhouette of the palm fronds lay sharp and flat against the bluish sky and puff white clouds. But my favorite part is the rust orange accents from the setting sun behind me.

Michael,

Why did you remove my comment about the palm trees? It really is a disastrous idea!

I think your site is fantastic, by the way!

Hey Mark, I was just moving through my daily routine and saw the comment at a glance and stripped it out. No big deal, I'm open to all comments and I think I was just reflex responding to the word asinine.

The palm sculpture is on the other side of the Cape May bridge, not Cape May proper. Interesting because I received quite a few emails about the photos, mostly good, but some puzzled about Palm trees in NJ. I think the way I shot them made them look much bigger and more prominent than they are. Plus, they are works of art versus the real thing.

Thanks for stopping in, appreciate it.

The photo is great (all your photos are). I recognize that the palms are not on CM proper -- you do a good job of describing where your photos are taken when it's not obvious from the shot itself -- but palm trees even close to CM bother me. I wonder, can you see the trees from the Parkway as you hit the bridge onto Cape May proper? They would look completely incongruous.

I'm in Fla and I love palm trees (have some in my front yard, actually). But they have no place in Cape May or close to Cape May. They'd be great in Wildwood, if used correctly to enhance the doowop theme.

Again, great website and I check it out almost everyday...

Point taken, thanks Mark. And, no you can't see them from the Parkway (thank goodness).

I think you'd be surprised how small they are. Have a good weekend!
