Poverty Beach Big Wave shot: revisited

This Poverty Beach Big Wave photo (included in this post in case the banner changes) was one of the first banner images on capemayX.com. This high energy and quite remarkable shot by Don Merwin drew many comments, both in the street and via email. And even though the original story took a few turns along the way, we never did find out who the boarder was, until this afternoon. I was shopping for ant killer at Swains (what's with the ants this year?) and saw a big guy with thick dread locks hanging in the same aisle. I'm not sure what he was doing in the ant killer isle, but when I asked if he was the boogie boarder guy ... he immediately nodded yes and we struck up a friendly conversation. The girls he was with started giggling so this must be a regular refrain around town "aren't you the guy in that wave..." I told him the shot was featured on a capemayX.com banner and he had no idea what I was talking about. So we decided to do a capemayX.com feature interview with the man they call Jesus, to see where the story takes us. Stay tuned.
