Sat, July 29 This photo was the inspiration for original artwork by Manchego Artiesto. Today's main capemayX masthead featured an original painting from transient Cape May artist Manchego Artiesto. We'll be using his talents over the next months, or as long as he is available. Since we rotate the banners, in case you missed it, we've included the art and original photo in this story.
Artwork used in today's banner. (click) This original art was modeled from a recent photo of volunteers for the Center for Community Arts, painting a mural at the West Cape May Farmers Market. Some of the mural painters, for example, have big heads that have united with the sunflower images on the wall. Do I know the higher meaning at stake here? No, bBut it is interesting, to my eye, anyway. Many thanks to Manchego and his growing family of pocito sombreros. We hope to get him to create a few more painting originals before he heads home across the border (now there's an interesting story). Maybe we'll interview him.
