Cove Portal Photo

cove.portal2 copy.520wide

A few people emailed me about the above photo that ran in the main banner last night and this morning, after I changed it to the current photo. I like this photo — though I'm not sure why. My theory is that anytime you frame something, no matter what is used as the frame — fingers, wood slats, photo borders, stage curtains — there's an implied story setting with all the accompanying details at stake. The frame focuses your attention (if even that focus is out of focus) and opens up the limitless possibilities of what's going on here. So maybe that's what's happening as you look through the grainy, scraped fence frame and wonder what's happening over there — at the out of focus Cove Restaurant.
